Treasurers & Ticketsellers Local 868 IATSE, AFL-CIO

History of Local 868
Local 868 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees AFL-CIO, CLC (“IATSE”) has a long and storied history as the Treasurers and Ticket Sellers Union of the mid-Atlantic region. Chartered in 1957 as a result of the organization of the box office at the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus, Local 868 then organized box offices in many of Washington DC’s beautiful old movie houses. Today, our local is made up of 70+ professionals.
You see many of us in public-facing roles at theatre box office windows but there are many more of us practicing our craft behind the scenes - building the ticketing structure for our shows, instituting pricing changes at a moment’s notice, troubleshooting, keeping pace with new technologies – all to give our patrons a smooth buying experience.
Stop by and say hello the next time you’re in the neighborhood:
